FRANKLIN, IN - Coffee will be injecting new life into an unfinished shell building in Franklin and creating jobs for 150 people.

Florida-based start-up AMayZing Food and Beverage LLC plans to buy the structure on Linville Way to become a manufacturing facility for its ready-to-drink coffee products.

The company, owned by industry veteran Timothy May, plans to spend more than $30 million on the project. AMayZing is asking Franklin for a 10-year tax abatement on $10,800,000 in real property and a 10-year abatement on $20,000,000 in personal property capital investment. The city council is expected to vote on the abatements next week.

The Franklin Redevelopment Commission is expected to vote on an economic development agreement with the company. AMayZing would employ 50 workers in its first year, adding 25 to 50 employees each year, until it reaches 150 people by 2022. The average wage is said to be $20 hour plus benefits and annual increases.

Plans call for expanding the current 50,000-square-foot shell to 100,000 square feet for the production of specialty coffee products, which are distributed to convenience stores and retailers. Production would begin in spring 2019 and be fully operational in early 2020.
